The Power Development Department (PDD) of Jammu and Kashmir today appealed its consumers to use the electricity judiciously during morning and evening peak hours.
As per the handout issued by Superintending Engineer, Electricity M & RE Circle-I, Jammu, overloading of electrical infrastructure constraints the department to go in for distress power cuts.
Judicious use of air conditioners and other power consuming gadgets especially during morning and evening peaks, shall reduce overloading of the system, it added.
He has appealed to the public to make judicious use of power during summer months.
PDD is making all out efforts to provide regular power supply to the consumers but due to severe dry conditions and abnormal rise in temperature prevailing in the region, there is an unprecedented increase in load, he said.
Using power through illegal means like hooking of power lines or bypassing of meter amounts to theft of electricity and anybody found indulging in illegal practice shall be booked and penalized as per the J&K Electricity Act, 2010 besides attracting disconnection of power of the installation, the Superintending Engineer added.
He sought cooperation of the public which would to a long way in helping the department to deliver better services to the consumers.
