"We are hopeful that we will soon be able to see Kulbhushan in our midst," Jadhav's classmate, who studied at the King George School at Dadar here, said.
"However, there is an apprehension that this being Pakistan...It will do what it wants, despite all our best efforts. We pray that Kulbhushan returns home safe from this ordeal, as soon as possible," he said.
While many of the schoolmates of Jadhav watched the ICJ proceedings on TV, a few others rang up each other to know the progress of the hearing.
Jadhav, who was held guilty of espionage by a Pakistan military court, spent his early days in Parel and used to stay in the police quarters with his family in Maharashtra.
After studying at King George School, Jadhav went to the Ruia College here, before joining the National Defence Academy at Khadakvasla in Pune.
India today demanded the immediate suspension of Kulbhushan Jadhav's death sentence, expressing fears that Pakistan could execute him even before the hearing at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) was over.
