Inmates of a local jail held a protest demonstration following the death of an undertrial, alleging that the jail authorities failed to provide him timely help, police said today.
The protesters staged the demonstration yesterday in protest against the alleged "negligence" of the jail authorities in connection with the death of 24-year-old Karnail Singh, they said
Singh, who was facing nine cases, had appeared before a Patiala court on Tuesday. However, on his way back to the jail, his health conditions deteriorated and was rushed to civil hospital where he died during the treatment.
