Alleging that one of the inmates was manhandled by jail staff, a group of inmates clashed yesterday with the authorities here during which one Ravindra Rajbhar was seriously injured, jailor Deepankar Bharti said.
While Rajbhar was undergoing treatment at the district hospital, the jail staff sat on dharna and stayed away from work yesterday, he added.
District magistrate Murli Manohar and SP RB Singh rushed to the jail with additional force to control the situation.
The situation has been brought under control and PAC deployed in the prison and inquiry has been ordered into the incident, Bharti said.
