Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley tonight met AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence here in the first high profile visit after the former chief minister was let on bail in a disproportionate wealth case.
An AIADMK release said Jayalalithaa received Jaitley "warmly. It was a courtesy call which lasted for 40 minutes", it added.
The meeting comes in the wake of the Centre's move to drum up support for ordinances, including coal block allocation in a likely joint parliamentary session of the two Houses.
In the Lok Sabha, AIADMK is the second largest opposition party after Congress with 37 MPs.
