The studio originally planned to release the film in 3D on February 27, 2015, reported Ace Showbiz.
The film is based on the 1996 disastrous expedition to scale Mount Everest. Two different expeditions were hit by a sudden blinding storm, resulting in the death of some of the climbers.
The movie is being sourced from various books and interviews with survivors.
Gyllenhaal is joined in the cast ensemble by Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Martin Henderson, Emily Watson, Michael Kelly, and Thomas M Wright.
