This is the third time the 74-year-old actor filed for divorce in 10 years. The first was filed in 2005 and the second in 2009. However, they reconciled and each case was dropped, reported Ace Showbiz.
According to the divorce papers which were filed on January 8, James cited irreconcilable differences as reason of the split.
The couple doesn't have a pre-nuptials and the filing is also meant to terminate financial support to Linda. From their marriage, James and Linda have two sons together.
The first marriage was to Dee Jay Mathis in 1961, but they divorced in 1966. The second marriage was to Sheila Marie Ryan in 1976 which only lasted for a year. James' third marriage was to Ingrid Hajek from 1990 to 1995.
James has a child from each of his ex-wives. One of them is Scott Caan, his son with Sheila, who is an actor as well.
