Jammu doctors call off strike

Resident Doctors Association (RDA), Government Medical College here has called off strike in the wake of suspension of a doctor after a patient died due to alleged negligence, following an agreement with the hospital administration.
"Keeping in view the larger interests of the general public, the association has called off the suspension of routine works in GMC Jammu and associated hospitals," said Dr Neeraj Sharma, President RDA.
The RDA had suspended routine work in the hospital after one of the doctors was suspended after a patient died due to alleged negligence of the doctors.
"The Emergency services were already kept out of the purview of the present stand-off between doctors and the administration," he said.

He said that the suspended doctor was reinstated by the hospital administration.
"Dr Sushil Pandita, Registrar was reinstated and his verbal suspension was revoked, an enquiry committee has been constituted to look into the circumstances leading to his suspension," he said.
