Japanese delegation calls on HAU VC, propose collaboration

A delegation from Japan here today called on the Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) Vice-Chancellor and expressed keen interest for collaboration with the varsity in academic and research pursuits.
Welcoming the proposal of the three-member Japanese delegation, HAU VC K S Khokhar said the proposition would help boost agricultural production in the state, an official release said.
He sought cooperation of Japan in the frontier areas of science including nanotechnology and bio-technology apart from agribusiness to further increase productivity and quality of farm produce.
Toru Suzuki, Chairman and Managing Director, Mitsui India, who led the delegation, said that the collaboration would help in exchange of students and scientists between HAU and Tokyo University of Agriculture for academic and research pursuits.
Besides it would also provide an opportunity to understand culture of each country and also uplift of the economic condition of the Haryana farmers, the release said.
HAU Director, Human Resource Management, Dr Ram Singh present on the occasion, proposed to identify common undergraduate and post-graduate courses as well as research areas of mutual interest.
He also expressed the need of holding talks between high officials of both the universities before entering into agreement.
The other members of the delegation included Yoshio Ishimaru and Alok Yadav, General Manager and Assistant General Manager, Mitsui India, respectively.
