Japanese maritime forces' chief on India visit

Seeking deeper defence ties, Japanese maritime forces' chief Admiral Katsutoshi Kawano today called on Indian Navy chief Admiral D K Joshi and held discussions on a wide range of subjects.
"During the meeting, a wide range of subjects of mutual interest in the maritime domain were discussed. The Indian Navy and the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Forces (JMSDF) have been collaborating towards combating piracy off the Gulf of Adenm," a Navy release said.
The Japanese Admiral also called on Defence Minister A K Antony also. He is on a two day official visit to India.
He will visit the Western Naval Command Headquarters at Mumbai tomorrow, where he will interact with Vice Admiral Shekhar Sinha, FOC-in-C Western Naval Command.

The inaugural Indo-Japan Maritime Affairs dialogue was held last month.
