Rajasthan Jat Mahasabha today accused the Ashok Gehlot government of "ignoring" the community and said the organisation will take a final call on supporting BJP or Congress before the assembly polls later this year.
The RJM representatives, during the organisation's Annual General Meeting today, asked community members to get united and strengthen the caste base.
They claimed that the organisation will decide to back either Congress or BJP only after reviewing the situation prior to the assembly polls.
"Jat community was neglected by its own representatives sitting in the power, whether it was any minister in the Congress government or a member in the Pradesh Congress Committee," RJM President Rajaram Meel told reporters.
"They (jat representatives) were not working for social cause of the community," Meel said.
"It is too early to comment how many tickets Congress or BJP shall give to jat community in assembly polls," he said.
Nagaur district president of RJM, Ramkaran Dukia, said UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is expected to visit Jayal for the inauguration of a water project on June 20 and "it is a good indication for the community".
In 2008 assembly polls, out of 28 tickets given by the Congress, Jat candidates won on 16 seats, RJM spokesman Tarachand Choudhary said, adding the community has six MPs of Congress and two of BJP.
The Annual General Meeting of RJM was attended by its 34 district presidents and 27 vice presidents.
