Making a suo motu statement in the Assembly, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said the Nellai Wildlife Sanctuary would integrate together the bio-diversity rich areas, while the bird sanctuary in Osudu would attract migratory birds.
Holding that Tamil Nadu was leading among the states in bio-diversity conservation and management, she said her government has been taking steps to bring environment and bio-diversity rich areas under Protected Area Management to create a congenial atmosphere for increasing the wildlife sanctuaries in the state.
Besides converting the basic training centres in Anaimali Tiger Sanctuary and Mudumalai Tiger Sanctuary into 'Upgraded Wildlife Management Training Centres', the Chief Minister also announced direct recruitment to fill up of 650 vacant posts of foresters, forest rangers and forest wardens.
