Jayalalithaa today granted a solatium of Rs four lakh each to the kin of 23 people killed in rain-related incidents in the State.
All the victims were killed in the first week of this month in Kanchipuram district.
She condoled the demise of the victims of rains and flood and granted the solatium from the Disaster Relief Fund, an official release here said.
Drowning, wall-collapse and electrocution were the major reasons listed for the deaths of 23 people.
Also, she granted a solatium of Rs four lakh to the next of kin of a Chennai Corporation sanitary worker, who died of heart attack while on work in a flood-hit area here yesterday.
