A JD(U) youth leader was arrested today from Mehsaun Chowk under the Town Police Station area in Bihar's Sitamarhi district for allegedly abetting a sharp shooter's escape, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided a house in the Circle Office (CO) bylane and nabbed JD(U) youth leader Ravi Patel for his link with the Santosh Jha gang and helping its sharp shooter Vikas Jha escape from police custody while he was being taken to a court two days ago, SP Pankaj Sinha said.
Patel, who is the vice-president of the JD(U)'s state youth unit, has a criminal background and was wanted in three cases, the SP said.
