Facing heat from rival Air India, which is offering last minute ticket prices equivalent to AC II tier fares of Rajdhani trains on 11 domestic routes, private carrier Jet Airways also plans to roll out a new ticket pricing structure to give more choices to customers from next month.
Jet Airways will offer a total of eight new 'Fare Choices' across economy and premiere class of travel, allowing fliers to tailor their bookings to their individual needs, the airline said in a release today.
These fare choices will be available to customers from August 17, Jet Airways said.
As part of this, economy class passengers will have the option of choosing fares from the Deal, Saver, Classic or Flex fare categories.
Likewise, premier class fares includes Saver, Classic and Flex, while in first class there will only be one fare "family - First," it said.
In a move that check-mated its rivals like Jet Airways and Vistara on the pricing front, national carrier Air India had early this month announced dropping of its last minute fares to the level of AC II tier fares of Rajdhani trains on four trunk destinations from Delhi--Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai, to begin with.
Later it extended the offer on seven other routes, giving jitters to the private airlines, which jack up their last minute fares to astronomical sums.
Gaurang Shetty, Wholetime Director, Jet Airways, said: "The new fare structure being introduced by Jet Airways will offer distinct features in each category as well as greater choice to our guests. Ultimately, this is about providing choice."
The new flexible 'Fare Choices' will be available on all domestic and international routes through all of Jet Airways' booking channels, the release said.
Besides, the various fare categories are differentiated based on the changeability and refund of a ticket, mileage accrual, upgrade eligibility, priority check-in and lounge access, it added.
The baggage allowance for the bookings availed under these fare choices is differentiated according to routes based on piece and weight and the same will reflect on the e-ticket, Jet Airways said.
