Jharkhand govt to construct 25-feet statue of tribal icon

The Jharkhand Cabinet Monday approved to construct a 25-foot statue of tribal icon Birsa Munda at the old jail campus named after him here.

The Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Raghubar Das, approved to construct Birsa Mundas statue and nine other statues of martyrs at nine-foot and approved a total Rs 3.57 crore, an official release said.

The movement of Birsa Munda lasted from 1895 to 1900 before his martyrdom took place on June 9, 1900 in this jail.
