Akingbola, best knows as Antoine Malick on the BBC medical drama "Holby City", will play the role of DC Comics villain Baron Blitzkrieg, said The Hollywood Reporter.
The actor will appear on the series as a revamped version of Blitzkrieg, trying to recruit Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) for his terror group Shadowspire.
Blitzkrieg will appear in the show's prominent flashback scenes.
In the comics, the character is the leader of the nefarious group Shadowspire.
Akingbola joins the cast of Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk, Alexander Calvert as the for-hire criminal Anarky and Echo Kellum as DC superhero Mister Terrific on the show.
"Arrow" season four is scheduled to air on October 7.
