"A comprehensive plan for channelisation of Chenab river is under active consideration of the government and the work on this project would be started as soon as all formalities are completed," Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, said here today.
"The government is keen to address the concerns of flood- hit areas on priority," the minister said during a visit to assess the damage caused to land and road along the right bank of the river due to recent rain in upper areas.
He instructed the chief engineer, flood control, to complete these works on war footing.
The minister appealed to people of the affected areas to extend cooperation to the executing agencies for better and effective implementation of the development programme.
