JKED seeks parties' opinion on polls in Anantnag LS

Opposition parties today batted strongly for holding polls once situation improves in Kashmir while BJP-PDP wants elections to be held in March-April next year as the state's Chief Electoral Officer today sought opinion from political parties about holding polls on Anantnag Lok Sabha seat vacated due by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
BJP kept away from the meeting but submitted a written note to CEO after the meeting.
"We called a meeting of representatives of all Political parties for seeking opinion holding elections to Anantnag Lok Sabha seat," CEO Shant Manu said.
While representatives of all parties took part in the meeting, BJP did not take part but sent a note after the meeting about their opinion on polls, he said.
Opposition NC and Congress parties batted strongly for holding polls immediately after the situation becomes conducive in Kashmir, he said.
However, BJP and PDP coalition parties wanted that polls to Anantnag LS seat should be held in March-April next year, he said.
"We have asked CEO to hold polls immediately after improvement in the situation. The exams are being held, harvesting has been done and other activities have started, now they should hold polls after further improvement immediately," Congress Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said.
CEO said that final call will be taken by Election commission of India.
