Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today condemned repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan and urged the Union and the state governments to take steps for safety, security and welfare of the people living in border areas in the state.
Expressing shock over the martyrdom of a BSF jawan and serious injuries to several civilians in fresh incidents of unprovoked shelling by Pakistani troops today, JKPCC accused the neighbouring country of escalating the situation on the border.
Deputy chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, Jahangir Mir and Chief spokesperson, JKPCC, Ravinder Sharma, who toured the areas like Seri and Makri, which fall ahead of the border fence near Jhangar of Nowshera sector and witnessing intensive shelling from Pakistani side during past few days, urged the government to make ambulances available in the villages and dug up trenches near mohallahs and schools and provision of adequate ration distribution for the people.
They also demanded "weapons for self-defence" for the villagers.
The Congress leaders also asked the government to built colonies at safer places with provision of a single-room accommodation and waiver of KCC loans for the border residents.
