Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) today received a setback as its firebrand East Singhbhum district committee President, Ramesh Hansdah resigned from the post as well as the primary membership of the party today.
"I have tendered my resignation from all posts including the district committee presidentship and sent the resignation to party supremo Sibu Soren", Hansdah said while accusing Chief Minister Hemant Soren of failing to keep his promise.
"Since 2009, Hemant has promised me to allot party ticket to contest from Potka assembly constituency and even asked me not to contest the last parliamentary poll with an assurance to allot the party ticket in the ensuing assembly poll but he failed to keep his promise every time", Hansdah, a former General Secretary and Spokesman of the Central Committee
of the party, said.
Hansdah also held Jharkhand Industry Minister Champai Soren and MLA from Ghatsila Ramdas Soren responsible in the denial of party ticket to him.
Asked about his future course of action, Hansdah said he would discuss it with his supporters and disclose it in the next few days.
Hansdah, who has been with JMM for over two and half decades, was nominated as East Singhbhum district committee President in 2011.
Hansdah said he would now campaign for his elder brother, Dasrath Hansdah, a renowned Santali film personality contesting against Champai Soren from Seraikela in adjoining Seraikela-Kharswan district as an Independent candidate.
Vimal Baitha, JMM's District committee Dalit Morcha president, also resigned along with Hansdah.
