The 63-year-old Golden Globe Award-winning actor will play a government official named Randa in the film, reported The Wrap.
Randa is the man, who helms the expedition to Skull Island, a land forgotten by time.
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts the film, already has big names like Samuel L Jackson, John C Reilly and Tom Hiddleston on board.
"Trainwreck" actress Brie Larson has been cast in the lead female role opposite Hiddleston.
The film is slated for March, 2017 release.
