Journalist gets life threat for writing on goddesses

A local journalist has received a death threat for allegedly writing articles about Hindu goddesses, police said today.
The death threat was issued through an anonymous letter addressed to Dr Subhash Desai yesterday, wherein he was warned against spreading certain beliefs about the presiding deity worshipped at the local temple.
The veteran journalist, who is in his 60s had written an article some days ago about the goddess bringing out certain historical facts.
Soon after receiving the threat letter, Desai approached Kolhapur SP Pradeep Deshpande last evening following which a complaint was lodged in this connection at the Juna Rajawada police station.

Although the letter did not mention any names, it made subtle references to activists and rationalists, who had to pay with their life for such 'acts'.
