Journo's suicide bid has exposed BJP rule in MP: Congress

Congress leader of the Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Ajay Singh said here today that the manner in which a journalist tried to commit suicide in front of the Chief Secretary's office at the Mantralaya here had exposed the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government.
"I demand that the state government take cognisance of this incident and take swift action against the guilty," the leader of the opposition said in a statement today.
Ajay said that the journalist, Rajendra Kumar, who had been fighting corruption in the state government, had even approached the court in this connection.
He said that the court had given some directives which the state government refused to follow and due to this the only way of protest left before the journalist was to attempt suicide.

He said that the MP government had similarly tried to suppress the killing of journalist Chandrika Rai in Umariya by the mafia and added that nothing had been done despite a report by the Press Council.
Ajay said that when journalists are treated in this manner, the common man's situation in the state could well be imagined.
