Maharashtra state federation of junior college teachers today called off their stir against the state government for non-fulfilment of their demands.
The teachers have agreed to examine class XII examination paper, Education minister Rajendra Darda informed the state Legislature here today.
"The junior college teachers have called off boycott of class XII exam paper evaluation," the minister said, making a statement in both the Houses.
"The government has agreed to three key demands of the teachers, including considering DHE diploma for service seniority," Darda said.
The class XII board exams had begun on February 21 and the junior college teachers were boycotting the exams for their demands.
The state federation of junior college teachers had launched the agitation against the state government over non-fulfilment of their demands, including pay scales in keeping with the fifth pay commission recommendations, with arrears from 1996 and not from 2000.
They had also demanded that the Diploma in Higher Education (DHE) be treated on a par with the B.Ed degree for appointment of vice-principals and supervisors.
The minister said the government has also agreed to a major demand of the federation regarding maternity leave of the 'shikshan sevaks'.
A discussion will be held with teachers' representatives in three months to consider their other demands, Darda said.
