The police officer investigating the Jyoti Dasani murder case here has come under scanner after father of the victim complained that he was trying to make the case weak, prompting the IG to order a probe against him.
Jyoti, the 28-year-old daughter-in-law of a biscuit baron, was found stabbed to death inside a car on July 28 in Panki area here.
Police later arrested Jyoti's husband Piyush Shyam Dasani, claiming that he got her killed because of his relation with another woman.
"I got information that Jyoti's father Shankar Nagdev has complained that the Station Officer of Swaroop Nagar police station Shiv Kumar Rathore, who is investigating the murder, is trying to weaken the case," Kanpur Zone IG Ashutosh Pandey said today.
"The allegations were very serious as it is on the basis of Rathore's investigation that the case will be presented in the court.
"So SSP K Emanuel has been asked to probe the allegations leveled by Jyoti's father," he said.
"In a letter sent to the SSP today, he has been asked to probe the charges and submit a report at the earliest. If Rathore is found guilty in the probe, action will be taken against him," the IG added.
Apart from Piyush, his alleged lover and four others have been arrested in the case.
