Dr Avirup Mondal was suspended by the health department after he was found guilty embezzling funds, amounting to Rs ten-lakh, meant for the hospital, Burdwan CMOH Pranab Roy told reporters here.
A panel was formed five months ago to probe into the matter when complaints alleging Dr Mondal embezzling funds of the hospital started pouring in the health department.
Dr Mondal had joined the hospital eight years back and there have been allegations against him since then, sources in the hospital said.
