Both have signed a contract for a period of one year.
The contract could be renewed for the subsequent two years if Kanitkar and Ratra impress the Goa Cricket Association (GCA), an official source said.
Kanitkar, who succeeds Sri Lankan Nuwan Zoysa, will begin to train the team from August 1, when the GCA selectors will hand him the probables and his job would be to prune the list to 22.
With a new managing committee manning the GCA affairs now, a new set of selectors for various teams would be appointed tomorrow, the source added.
