The state cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today took a decision to provide Kanya Vidyadhan to the meritorious students completing intermediate this year from UP Madarsa Shiksha Parishad and UP Sanskrit Shiksha Parishad, an official spokesman said.
For the purpose, five per cent each of the 75 per cent grant provided to the UP Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UP Board) will be given to these boards, the spokesman said, adding, the beneficiaries will get Rs 30,000 in addition to scholarships or other benefits they get from any other scheme.
In another important decision, the cabinet gave its approval to include "Malin Bastis" of ten districts inflicted by Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in a scheme to provide drinking water.
This approval has been given for the scheme being run for controlling JE and AES by the Union Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Ministry, the spokesman said, adding, under this 75 per cent of the cost will be borne by the centre and state's share will be 25 per cent.
