PCC president A V Subramanian told reporters here today that Karaikal relying on Cauvery water as it is in the delta limits would face serious impact if the dam plan of Karaikal was executed.
Extending the support of the Congress to the bandh planned by the ryots outfit in Karaikal, Subramanian said the move of Karnataka was "utterly against the Cauvery River Water Tribunal's verdict" and hence would be injurious to the farm sector.
The Karaikal farmers association has also taken a decision to observe the bandh that day. The Congress extends full support to the farmers' bandh, Subramanian said.
