Filmmaker-producer Karan Johar is all set to co-produce the remake of 1989 hit film 'Ram Lakhan'.
The new film will be helmed by 'Singham Returns' director Rohit Shetty and will be co-produced by Johar and Subhash Ghai, who originally directed it. The film will hit theatres in 2016.
"Rohit Shetty Dharma productions and Mukta Arts come together to remake an iconic blockbuster!," Johar posted on Twitter alongwith the poster of the film.
The leading actors, who will step into the shoes of Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor, have not been revealed yet but there are reports that Johar may bring back Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra from 'Student of the Year'.
'Ram Lakhan' chronicled the lives of two brothers who parted ways due to their ideological differences. But, eventually they come to each other's rescue as the story unfolds. It was directed and produced by Ghai.
The film marks the first collaboration between Johar and '100-crore director' Shetty, who has given many hits including 'Golmaal' series, 'Chennai Express' and most recently 'Singham Returns'.
