Karna legislature session to commence from Nov 21 at Belagavi

The winter session of Karnataka legislature will be held at Belagavi from November 21 to December two.
Announcing the schedule after a cabinet meeting here, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra said the session would deliberate issues including Mahadayi water dispute affecting North Karnataka region.
The Kalasa-Banduri Nala (diversion) project, which will utilise 7.56 tmcft of water from the inter-state Mahadayi river, is being undertaken by Karnataka to improve drinking water supply to the twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad and the districts of Belagavi and Gadag.
Last month, tension had gripped most parts of northern Karnataka after Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal rejected the state's plea citing various grounds, including ecological damage that the Kalasa-Banduri Nala project may cause. The protests turned violent on July 28 during which government offices were attacked and public property was damaged.

A state-wide bandh was also observed on July 30.
