Kejriwal rang up and congratulated Banerjee for the party's civic poll victory, TMC national spokesman Derek O'Brien told PTI.
The TMC won the Kolkata Municipal Corporation election bagging 114 of its 144 wards, and also emerged victorious in 69 of the 91 civic bodies in districts across West Bengal yesterday.
Before the February 7 Delhi Assembly elections, Banerjee had asked people of Delhi to vote for Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the "greater need of the country and development in the capital".
