As many as 50,000 'jail-made' chapati, prepared by prisoners at the Poojappura Central Prison here, along with jam will be airlifted to the rain-battered Tamil Nadu capital from the airport here tomorrow morning.
"The chapati and jam will be sent by an Air Force flight. It will be handed over to the government authorities at Chennai," Poojappura Central Jail Superintendent A G Suresh told PTI.
Over 60 prisoners are preparing the chapati under the guidance of 35 jail staff at the jail here, he said. ' The official said besides the Poojappura jail, the central prisons in Thrissur and Kannur are also planning to send chapatis to the rain-hit Chennai as part of the relief programme.

They may either send the chapati parcel along with our consignment or via any private parties," he said.
