Kerala BJP postpones 'Janaraksha Yatra' till Oct

The Kerala BJP has postponed its 'Janaraksha Yatra', which was scheduled to commence on September 7, till October due to the "inconvenience" of party president Amit Shah to attend it, the party said today.
"The yatra to be led by state BJP chief Kummanom Rajasekharan, which was scheduled to commence on September 7, has been postponed to October," a party release said here.
It added that the decision was taken in view of the "inconvenience" of Shah and central leaders to attend it.
The "padayatra", which was scheduled to start from Payyannur in Kannur and conclude at the state capital here, was to highlight the political violence allegedly "unleashed" by the ruling CPI-M in the state, the release said.

It added that the revised date of the 'yatra' would be announced later.
Meanwhile, the CPI(M) alleged that Shah was visiting the state to "create trouble".

The Left party's Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan said the BJP president should first lead a march to Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana, where his party was in power.
He also alleged that "insecurity and law-and-order issues" were "severe" in the states ruled by the saffron party.
Jayarajan alleged that the Sangh Parivar was showing its "intolerance" as the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government was "surging ahead with mass support" in Kerala.
"Amit Shah is coming to Kerala to create trouble...To destroy the reputation of the state, which is known for its secular and democratic credentials," he told reporters.

Jayarajan also said that in Kerala, there was tension "only in the minds of the BJP-RSS activists".
"The slogan of the BJP's Janaraksha Yatra is that everyone has a right to live. If that is so, Shah should first take out a march to Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, which are ruled by his party," he said.
