With increasing number of cyber crimes, Kerala government today decided to open three more cyber police stations in major cities, including Kochi, Kozhikode and Kannur this year to tackle the menace.
Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala also said that the state will soon have a CyberDome functional at the Technopark campus in Thiruvananthapuram to tackle cyber crime.
"As part of modernising the police force, the CyberDome being set up in the Technopark campus will become operational in October this year."
"Besides this, three more cyber police stations will also be opened in main cities including Kochi, Kozhikode and Kannur this year," he said after inaugurating the International Information Security Conference titled c0c0n 2015 being held here.
At present, Thiruvananthapuram is the only city in Kerala having a Cyber police station to deal with cyber crime.
The Minister claimed that Kerala police have effectively tackled the challenges thrown by unscrupulous elements who opt for the internet and social media to commit various crimes.
C0c0n, previously known as Cyber Safe, is an annual event, aimed at providing a platform to discuss, showcase, educate, understand and spread awareness on the latest trends in information, cyber and hi-tech crimes.
Kerala police is playing the leading role in organizing a two-day event in association with POLCYB -(The Society for the Policing of Cyberspace).
