Talking to reporters after paying homage to the victims of the accident at Kapp near Perinthalmanna in the district, Chandy said coordination among motor vehicles, police and public works departments was essential to reduce road mishaps.
To achieve this, a meeting of top officials would be convened and effective measures worked out.
The mishap that happened yesterday was the second in the district within a week after an autorickshaw-bus collision at Tanur in which eight members of a family were killed.
Besides Chandy, Transport Minister Aryadan Mohammed, Urban Development Minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali and Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar, all the three hailing from Malappuram district, paid homage to the victims and consoled the bereaved families.
