Kerala Minority Panel records statements of illegal B'desh

Kerala State Minority Commission chairman A M Veerankutty and its two members today visited an old age home here where 12 Bangladeshi nationals have been lodged for the past ten months, and recorded their statements.
Police had arrested them in 2011 for illegal stay in the country without valid documents.
They were staying in the old age home after release from a Kannur prison. A court had sentenced them to two years in jail and imposed a fine of Rs 21,000 each.
They were not go to their native place in the absence of proper travel documents and sought the district authorities' intervention.
