Several houses and an All India Radio tower were damaged in the heavy rains in Thiruvananthapuram, district authorities said.
While Vaikom received 9 cm rainfall, Kanjirappally, in Kottayam district, received 8 cm rainfall today, according to an IMD bulletin.
Kudlu received 6 cm, Alapuzha 5 cm, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Munnar and Thiruvananthapuram city recorded 3 cm rainfall, it added.
It said rain and thunder showers are most likely to occur at most places in Kerala and Lakshadweep in the next five days.
A new tower would be erected and efforts are on to immediately start the MW transmission, R C Gopal, Station Director, said.
