Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has approved the Haryana Street Vendor Rules-2016 to facilitate street vendors in the state.
A notification to this effect would soon be issued, a statement quoting State's Urban Local Bodies, Kavita Jain, said here today.
She that the implementation of these rules would bring relief to the people who earn their livelihoods by plying 'feris' and 'rehris' on the roadside.
Jain said that "such vendors often had to face exploitation, threat of physical abuse and uncertainty over lack of fixed place of business."
She said that the government took steps in this direction and prepared the rules according to the directions of the Centre.
The Minister said that survey of street vendors in each urban area, HUDA, HSIIDC and Housing Board would be conducted according to their location, after which they would be issued a certificate.
She said that Town Vending Committee would be constituted in each area which would comprise officer representing the local authority, medical officer of the local authority, fire officer, two officers of traffic police and local police, office-bearers of market or traders associations, members of resident welfare associations and officers of banks.
Apart from this, eight-member committees would be constituted in Municipal Corporation area and three-member committees would be constituted in Municipal Council, Municipality areas and other Development Authority areas, she added.
