S K Azeem, a resident of Markapur in Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam district, was travelling with his wife and son S K Azmal from Guntur to Secunderabad in a train yesterday.
Azeem was travelling in the general compartment while his wife and son were in the ladies' compartment. On reaching Secunderabad railway station, the wife realised that the boy was missing.
The couple immediately informed about it to the Railway Protection Force personnel present at the platform.
"The RPF personnel swung into action and thoroughly checked the platform and exits of the railway station. Based on the particulars of the child and facial features, the RPF was able to apprehend the kidnapper - Bikshapathi - and rescued the child and united him with his desolate parents," a SCR release said today.
