KMC earmarks 226 taxi zones in city

The Kolkata Municipal
Corporation has earmarked 226 places for taxi zones in the city.
Mayor Sovan Chatterjee told reporters after a high level meeting participated by Transport officials, KMC officials and Kolkata Police that 1000 taxi zones will come up in different parts of city where two to six vehicles will be parked.
The measures will be effective from September 1.
Chatterjee said from now on those having parked their cars in parking zones will be given computerised bills having mentioned the duration of parking and the parking attendants will be given uniforms and identity cards.
