KoPT in a statement said it has handled 500447 containers till March 10 in this current fiscal.
Of this, import was 256679 TEUs and export was 243768 TEUs.
On the ocassion, KoPT chairman RPS Kahlon said that this all time record in container handling had been achieved despite grave operational constraints of low navigational draft in the river, unavoidable ship detentions due to lock operations of the impounded dock, tide dependence in ship movement - which all are unique to this river port.
