A set of five such copper plates recovered recently from a scrap dealer in Kalyan have revealed a number of vital historical details of the Chilahara Dynasty's King Chittaraja, who ruled the Konkan coast between 1019 and 1035 Common Era (CE), he said.
He said that the Konkan coastal kingdom comprised of four districts covering 1400 villages as stated in the plates.
He praised the police for realising the importance of these plates, as well as seizing and sending them to state government custody.
Dalvi, who is a renowned researcher and historian, said that the plates have inscriptions in Sanskrit which had all details regarding the rule of the Silhahara Dynasty.
He said that these plates was were inscribed 1000 years ago in Samwat year 941 or 1019 CE. The plates contain names of ministers and government officials of that period, besides the administrative and economic details of the king.
The plates detailed the period from the beginning of the Shilahara Dynasty from Raja Kapardan to Chittaraja, as well geographical limits of their kingdoms.
