KriArj, Sony enters into pact to distribute 'Padman' globally

KriArj Entertainment has entered into a partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment for distributing the upcoming film "Padman".
Directed by R Balki and starring Akshay Kumar, the film is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who invented the first low-cost sanitary napkins in India.
The film, which will release on January 26, 2018, will be distributed globally by Sony.
The movie also features Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte.
Sanford Panitch, President of Sony's Columbia Pictures division, said," Akshay is the rarest of artists, not only is he the definition of movie star and producer, but what makes him and Twinkle so special is that they have a found a way with this film to make a wonderfully affecting and heartwarming movie that also can impact social change."

Akshay Kumar and KriArj had earlier collaborated on two projects -- "Rustom" and "Toilet:Ek Prem Katha".
Calling Padman a "path breaking" film, producer Arjun N Kapoor said, "We couldn't have had better creative forces combined than Akshay Kumar, Balki and Twinkle Khanna to portray this extraordinary tale of an ordinary man.
"The new year will have a dream beginning for us and we can't hold back our excitement to showcase PadMan to the world audiences.
