Rajput outfits from several states met here Friday to forge an alliance to challenge the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and reservation in jobs and education.

The alliance, "Kshatriya Jan Sansad", will also take up the issue of Ram Janmbhumi, said Akhil Bhartiya Kshatriya Mahasabha president Raja Rajendra Singh.

The Jan Sansad discussed the issues faced by the Rajputs in the country and gave a call for unity to preserve the "dignity" of the community.

Organisers of the event said office bearers of Kshatriya outfits from over 20 states, including Rajasthan, MP, Himachal, UP, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Karnatka and Delhi attended the meet.

It comprises office bearers of Rajput outfits as well as prominent members of the community from all over the country, said Umesh Singh, the general secretary of Kshatriya Mahasabha.

"The Jan Sansad will work for abolition of the SC/ST Act that has led to harassment of people including Rajputs," Rajendra Singh said.

Speaking at the event, many Rajput leaders also expressed concerns over perpetuation of reservation policy and called to end it to pave way for merit-based opportunity to all in academic and recruitment matters.
