Besides, some Members of Parliament on the panel suggested that stringent provisions be made to ensure that workers get their minimum wages as per the law.
"Members suggested enhancing old age pension as medical expenses rise with age, making stringent provisions to ensure minimum wage payment to the workers, to provide employment oriented alternative schemes for the children in need of employment and Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna," said a Labour Ministry press release.
While summing up the meeting, the minister assured due consideration to the suggestion of the MPs on various issues. He urged the members to come up with more suggestions to improve the welfare of the unorganised workers
The MPs who attended the Committee's meeting include R K Sinha, Prahlad Singh Patel, Shankar Prasad Datta, N K Premchandran, M K Raghvan, Ramesh Bidhuri and Kaushal Kishore.
