The 48-year-old actress, who starred as Reese Witherspoon's mother in the recent film 'Wild', is set to guest star before the third season wraps up, reported E! online.
Dern will be on bard portraying an OB-GYN. No other details about her character have been shared though.
'The Mindy Project' has had famous stars guest starring in as of late. The romantic comedy series has named the likes of Laverne Cox, Kris Jenner, as well as Stephen Colbert guest starring in its season three.
Dern is a two-time Oscar nominee, one for 'Wild' and the other one for 'Rambling Rose'. She, additionally, has won three Golden Globes.
