A city-based lawyer on Thursday filed a complaint against Bollywood actress Payal Rohatgi in a court, demanding that a case be registered against her for "spreading communal hatred" through her social media posts.
The 'private complaint' was filed by advocate Kashif Khan before Metropolitan Magistrate Imran Marchiya.
Private complaints are not probed by the police unless ordered by the court.
The complainant alleged that Rohatgi's social media posts spread communal hatred.
Suburban Oshiwara police be directed to register a First Information Report (FIR) against her under IPC section 153 A (promoting enmity on the ground of religion), the application said.
The court will hear the matter on November 20.
