Communist Party of India (CPI) today said that six Left parties, including CPI(M), would meet in the national capital on November 1 to evolve a joint action plan and stressed the need for unity among the communist outfits.
"The meeting would be attended by CPI, CPI(M), RSP, Forward Bloc, CPI-ML (Liberation) and SUCI," CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy told reporters at the end of a two-day national executive of his party here.
He said an effort should be made to bring together all parties which accept Communism, Marxism and Leninism.
"Communist Party of India (CPI) used to be there once upon a time. It split into different entities. There are parties which accept Marxism and Leninism. In our view, an effort should be made to form a united party by joining all parties which accept Communism, Marxism and Leninism.
"First, we have to try for united action. Then, trying for forming a single organisation by joining mass organisations. Later, we can resolve the differences amongst us. Thus, we wish to see a re-alignment of Communist movement by being resolving the differences amongst us," Reddy said.
When asked about "efforts towards merger of CPI and CPI(M)," he said CPI's objective is "re-dedication of Communist movement".
"In the recent elections to Parliament and others, we fought together, except in a few places. So, differences between us have come down. We are trying to further reduce them. Our objective is re-dedication of Communist movement. We would like to try for that through discussions," he said.
